About Katoen Natie Polo Oeste
The Consumer Goods & Industry site ( Polo Oeste) in Montevideo, Uruguay is a ioint venture between Katoen Natie and the local company Frigorifico Modelo. The park was founded in 2012 and mainly focuses on Real Estate customers. Since 2016 Katoen Natie Logistics was launched as the preferred operator for exclusive projects.
This park is located 20 minutes from the port where we operate the container terminal Terminal Cuenca del Plata (Port Operations).
The current storage capacity is 86.000 m² combining temperature controlled and dry storage plus 50.000m² open air storage for vehicles, of which 25.000 m² is bonded. The park has a total surface of 74ha and a total storage potential of 270.000m².
Our own, direct workforce consist of 80 FTE, excluding 170 FTE of the active Real Estate customers & service providers such as maintenance and security.

Value proposition of Katoen Natie - Polo Oeste
Multi-customer platform enables Katoen Natie to create synergies between different operations on the same site. Not only synergies in terms of productive personnel, but also in terms of equipment, ICT, and management team. Because of the different types of operations on these multi-customer site, Katoen Natie succeeds in optimizing the use of the surface and the warehouses. The use of our own WMS system for most operations on the same site (and also worldwide) enables a smooth and flexible start-up of new operations.
A solid base of skilled labour is available in the area. Katoen Natie employs more than 250 employees at this site. Our operations are staffed with well-trained employees, who can switch from one operation to another in order to manage the various peaks.
